After 12+ years Wild Love Preserve has found our permanent home thanks to a very generous donor! It's been a long road, going in all directions and working daily since 2010 to raise the capital to purchase land for Wild Love Preserve‘s wildlife preserve and our adopted wilds. All while our collaborative work on the range, wild horse operations, conservation, and education programs simultaneously evolved. It has been quite challenging, but, the hard work, sacrifice, and tenacity have paid off. It’s truly surreal.

With this big move, Wild Love is spreading our wings and expanding our work to Oregon and Idaho. Our forever home is an incredible wild expanse that meets and exceeds all our needs, and the horses are absolutely over the moon. The Wild Love Wildlife Preserve will be protected in perpetuity. As per our mission from the start, wild horses will continue to lead our way in nurturing and protecting this indigenous ecosystem as a balanced, interconnected whole. Our work in Idaho remains steadfast and in motion on all fronts.

On June 17, 2022, we convoyed our 187 wild horses from our longtime leased location to our forever-protected wildlife preserve. Safely loading, moving, and working with 187 wild horses was a really big job. Numerous factors and logistics had to be addressed prior to our actual move date.

Our day started at 5:30 am and wrapped sometime around midnight. Five semis and two trucks and trailers with us at the rear - we travelled in a convoy. The sun had set by the time we arrived, so we lit up the hills coming in. All 187 were real troopers and everyone arrived alive and upright and calmly off-loaded. They were quick to reconnect with family members and respective bands and settle in. Everyone is happy and content.

It is a day to be remembered for all involved. Without doubt, we had the right guys for the job. I've compiled some highlights into an 8-minute video from start to finish, fast-forwarding some of the road clips. Watch below for a glimpse into being on the road with 187 wild horses.

UPDATE: On July 28, 2022 we welcomed 21 more of our wild Challis mares to Wild Love's permanently protected wildlife preserve! It was another long trek, and this time in a serious heatwave. But, these ladies arrived in good shape and settled right in with their family and friends at Wild Love. In addition, our mini-convoy included trucking our heavy equipment on a semi with flatbed trailer. We deeply appreciate the care, awareness, attention to detail, and experience of our movers with their trucks, trailers, and semis. Once again, they proved to be the right guys for the job. Videos below… Volume up! Here are 187 of our wild wonders settling in after our big trek on June 17, 2022. It's been a very busy time. Everyone arrived upright and in good shape. We are focused on all things boots on the ground with wild horse needs and numerous infrastructure projects. We do not adopt or gentle. We are forever wild on their terms. Hooves are thundering at Wild Love Preserve!

WILD LOVE PRESERVE OPERATIONS

Now that we are moved into our permanently protected  wildlife preserve we have numerous infrastructure projects to address and ranch equipment to purchase. In 2023 we completed phase one of fencing and our 225+ wild horses are very happy roam the rocky terrain that is necessary for their health and well-being. Our extensive custom-fabricated corral system for safely moving horses and research projects was completed in 2025. As we celebrate our 16th anniversary in 2026, we are raising funds for the next phases of our massive perimeter fencing project which is in motion, so that we can release all of our wild horses to freely roam the entirety of the preserve in their chosen family bands. This is a very large and encompassing project. As you can imagine, the costs are very steep. We have many miles of wildlife-friendly perimeter fencing to build, roads to first cut in for access, springs to develop for water, as well, trees to plant and habitat to restore.
